Coaching
Life
coaching involves a supportive and creative partnership between
coach and client.
The
coach combines the roles of friend, of mentor and to some extent
of therapist - although coaching is not the same as psychotherapy
or counselling, and is not recommended for anyone with serious
mental health problems.
Coaching
focuses on clients' positive potential rather than on what is
wrong in their lives, and on their present and future rather than
their past - helping them to 'be the best they can be' in body,
mind and spirit.
Coaching
techniques include:
- Dealing
with things which are draining your energy, for example 'clearing
the clutter' and setting firmer boundaries
-
Making more efficient and balanced use of time
- Focusing
on your values, talents and passions
- Choosing
appropriate goals for the future and planning how to achieve
them
The
clients who benefit most from coaching are those who take an
active part in the process, and follow through with practical
action in between their coaching sessions.
