Bach Flower Remedies

These gentle natural remedies, made from the flowers of wild plants and trees, were discovered by the English physician Dr Edward Bach (1886-1936) as a means of balancing the emotions. They can help to dispel negative feelings and attitudes, whether these are a long-term feature of personality, or linked to temporary stresses such as work problems, relationship issues, bereavement, physical illness, or some kind of crossroads in life.

Each of the 38 remedies treats a negative state by promoting the corresponding positive quality, for example courage to overcome fear, or hope to overcome despair. Made up in individually-chosen combinations of up to six remedies, the treatment is tailored to the unique requirements of each client.

The remedies are classed as 'vibrational' or 'energy' medicines. They contain no chemical extracts of the source plant and are therefore free of the side-effects so often found with prescribed drugs. They do contain a trace of brandy as a preservative, and so may be unsuited to those who need to avoid alcohol completely for medical or religious reasons. Otherwise, they are safe for people of all ages - including pregnant women and babies - and for animals. They can be used alongside other forms of treatment.
